Michaela McCown, president

Michaela “Micki” McCown started her career in 1989 as a sales clerk in a retail mall store, where she quickly rose to Assistant Store Manager. A short time later, she entered a company sponsored Manager-In-Training program, leading to a Store Manager position with responsibilities including: management of operations, sales, ordering, personnel, and revenue. Her tenure saw dramatic loss reduction, double digit revenue growth, and corporate recognition. In 1995, she became responsible for her district’s Managers in Training program, while managing a large retail location.

In 1996, Micki decided to follow a new path, leading to a future in the Financial Services industry. Once again, she quickly climbed the corporate ladder, conquering each rung, including: Teller, Banker, Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Manager, and finally National Lead Trainer. Along the way, she obtained a Series 6 & 63, and Group 1 Insurance license, while achieving much success in lending, business development, talent acquisition, training newly hired and existing personnel, financial services, operations management, and the opening of new bank locations

Michaela’s experience crosses many boundaries, and now includes new boundaries to cross in the survey world…

Michaela joined SURVTEX, LLC in December of 2019. With the extensive knowledge and experience she possesses in developing strong client relationships while providing stout management and leadership skills, her day to day responsibilities include managing Financial Operations, Human Resources, Business Development, and talent acquisition.

Her motto is you are what you do, not what you say you'll do, and her pledge is client satisfaction in order to build lasting relationships. The best compliment she can receive is a referral of a client’s family member or friend. You can find her at the office or out hitting the pavement meeting new clients.

The real deal…
Michaela McCown was born in Germany, where she spent much of her youth. She moved to the United States in 1982, and has called Texas her home since 1986. In her free time she enjoys traveling to all parts of the world with her husband, experiencing the different cultures and the beautiful scenery. Michaela considers herself an Oenophile, and enjoys the introduction to new varietals during her travels.

John's experience in land surveying reaches back to his youth in the Dallas area where he surveyed with his father, the late William (Pete) McCown, also a Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor.

Using the skills he had acquired in land surveying, John financed his B.S. degree from East Texas State University, graduating in 1987. Continuing on in land surveying, construction field engineering, and civil engineering, John received his license to practice surveying in Texas in 1995. After receiving his license, John moved to Austin and in August of 2000, John co-founded SURVTEX, LLC.

Today, closing in on four decades of surveying experience, John has successfully delivered projects to a growing list of prestigious and high-profile clients. John never encounters a project he can’t handle. If there is a nut to crack, he can crack it.
His word is his bond and his ability to DELIVER is his calling card.

John is the Director of the Survey Department and oversees all projects and operations.

In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife, and spending time with his seven grandchildren. He has a passion for hunting, fishing, and brewing beer.

Surveyor, Hmmmm . . .

Ever wonder about that word? Or even what type of individual would become a surveyor? If you're like most people, you probably haven't given it much thought, but you might be interested to know that some of the most famous persons in our country have engaged in this honorable profession.

Back when our nation was young, there weren't many professionals - lawyers, doctors, politicians, etc., who were not also SURVEYORS! Some of the best known are found on Mt. Rushmore - three of our country's presidents; Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and even the "Father of our Country", General George Washington.

These patriotic, intelligent and educated men utilized their finite skills to map this raw and wild land. Thus, with accuracy and dedication they defined boundaries necessary to ensure legal ownership and document the land of our nation. It is possible that land owned by you or someone you know was first surveyed by one of them!
